About Pollen in Tirana

Tirana’s spring allergy season (March-May) sees Oak (Quercus) and Plane (Platanus) pollen; Grand Park of Tirana has abundant Oak; city streets feature Plane trees. Birch (Betula) contributes from areas near Dajti Mountain. Summer (May-July) brings high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from open green spaces and along the Lana River.

The urban environment and proximity to Dajti Mountain’s forests can increase local pollen counts. City canyons and areas around the Artificial Lake of Tirana trap pollen. Autumn and winter have elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from decomposing vegetation and damp conditions.
