About Pollen in Mendoza

Mendoza’s spring allergy season (September-November) is dominated by Olive (Olea europaea) and European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) pollen; Olive prolific in the surrounding Maipú orchards; European Ash widespread across city streets. White Mulberry (Morus alba) contributes significantly from Plaza Independencia. Summer (December-February) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from the Mendoza River banks and near Cerro de la Gloria.

The dry Zonda wind descends from the Andes Mountains, leading to high dust and pollen levels across the city. Autumn and winter see limited Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from leaf litter in Parque General San Martín during occasional damp periods.
