About Pollen in Dhaka

Dhaka’s dry season (November–February) is dominated by Mango and Neem pollen; Mango (Mangifera indica) prolific in Ramna Park and the National Botanical Garden; Neem (Azadirachta indica) widespread in Dhanmondi. Rain Tree (Albizia saman) contributes significantly during pre-monsoon months. Grass (Poaceae) pollen is present year-round; sources found along the banks of the Buriganga River and Suhrawardy Udyan.

High humidity and stagnant air in dense neighborhoods like Old Dhaka trap particulates and allergens. The monsoon season (June–October) has high Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts; these thrive in damp housing and near the marshy banks of the Turag River.
