About Pollen in Brasília

Brasília’s winter dry season (May-September) is dominated by Grass and Pine pollen; Grass (Poaceae) prolific across the Eixo Monumental and Parque da Cidade Dona Sarah Kubitschek; Pine (Pinus) frequent in the Jardim Botânico de Brasília. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus) contributes significantly from the Parque Nacional de Brasília. The transition to the rainy season (September-October) sees high Mango (Mangifera indica) pollen levels.

The flat Planalto Central plateau allows wind to transport allergens across the open city. The summer rainy season (October-April) sees elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts; these are concentrated near Lago Paranoá and within the gallery forests of the Parque Nacional de Brasília.
