About Pollen in Guangzhou

Guangzhou’s spring (February-May) is dominated by Kapok and Banyan pollen; Kapok (Bombax ceiba) common along Jiefang North Road; Chinese Banyan (Ficus microcarpa) dense across Haizhu District and Liwan Lake Park. Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) and Pine (Pinus massoniana) contribute from Yuexiu Park and Baiyun Mountain. Year-round warmth has high Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon) levels, originating from the Pearl River banks.

High humidity and northern hills trap allergens over the city center. Constant moisture causes high Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts, from damp building materials and subtropical gardens.
