About Pollen in Harbin

Harbin’s spring allergy season (April-May) is dominated by Birch and Poplar pollen; Birch (Betula) is common in the Heilongjiang Forest Botanical Garden; Poplar (Populus) grows along the Songhua River banks. Willow (Salix) contributes significantly from Sun Island and Stalin Park. Summer (June-August) sees high Mugwort (Artemisia) pollen levels; plants are widespread in open fields near Zhaolin Park and city outskirts.

Flat terrain and dry winds spread pollen across the urban center; high-rise buildings trap particles in residential blocks. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts; spores come from decaying vegetation in the Siberian Tiger Park and damp riverfront areas.
