Pollen Count & Forecast for Cali
About Pollen in Cali
Cali’s year-round allergy cycle (January-December) is dominated by Grass and Mango pollen; Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon) prolific in Parque del Ingenio and along the Pance River; Mango (Mangifera indica) widespread along city streets. Kikuyu Grass (Pennisetum clandestinum) contributes significantly from the Farallones foothills. Dry months (July-August) see high Guayacan (Handroanthus chrysanthus) pollen levels, originating from southern neighborhoods and Parque de la Caña.
Steep mountain topography and valley winds can trap pollen, leading to localised high concentrations. Rainy seasons see elevated Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts, from humid riverbanks near the Rio Cali and damp urban pockets.
