About Pollen in Copenhagen

Copenhagen’s spring allergy season (April-June) is dominated by Birch and Elm pollen; Birch (Betula) dense in Fælledparken and Kongens Have; Elm (Ulmus) common along inner-city streets. Oak (Quercus) is common in Frederiksberg Have and Dyrehaven. Summer (June-August) has high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from the open meadows of Amager Fælled and the Øresund coastline.

Flat coastal terrain and sea breezes disperse pollen across the city; coastal humidity increases spore activity. Autumn and winter have elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) counts, from decaying organic matter in Utterslev Mose and damp city courtyards.
