Pollen Count & Forecast for Alexandria
About Pollen in Alexandria
Alexandria’s spring allergy season (March–May) has high Olive (Olea europaea) and Pine (Pinus) pollen; Olive trees are common in the Antoniadis Garden and Montaza Palace Gardens; Pine grows along the coastal Corniche. Grasses (Poaceae) levels rise near the Mahmoudiyah Canal and surrounding farmland. Summer (June–August) brings Chenopods (Chenopodiaceae) pollen; these weeds grow along the edges of Lake Mariout.
High humidity and Mediterranean Sea breezes carry pollen across flat coastal plains; narrow streets in the city center trap particulates. Winter months see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp areas near the Alexandria Port and decaying organic matter in urban gardens.
