About Pollen in Bordeaux

Bordeaux’s spring allergy season (March-May) includes Oak (Quercus) pollen from Parc Bordelais and surrounding Gironde forests; Plane (Platanus x acerifolia) common along city streets and the Garonne quays. Birch (Betula) contributes from public gardens. Summer (May-July) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from the Parc des Sports Saint-Michel and vineyards of the Entre-deux-Mers region.

The urban layout and river valley can create localized high pollen concentrations. Proximity to the Forêt de la Brède increases tree pollen exposure. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp conditions along the Garonne and decomposing vegetation in city parks.
