Pollen Count & Forecast for Rennes
About Pollen in Rennes
Rennes’ spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Birch (Betula) and Ash (Fraxinus) pollen; Birch is common in Parc du Thabor and Parc des Gayeulles; Ash is widespread near the Vilaine river. Oak (Quercus) contributes significantly from the Forêt de Rennes. Summer (May-July) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels; these originate from the Ille riverbanks and surrounding rural meadows.
The humid oceanic climate and the convergence of the Ille and Vilaine rivers trap airborne particles. Autumn and winter have high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts; these are common in damp parklands and decomposing leaf litter.
