About Pollen in Dresden

Dresden’s spring allergy season (March-May) has Birch and Hazel pollen; Birch (Betula) is prolific in the Großer Garten and Dresdner Heide; Hazel (Corylus) is widespread along the Elbe riverbanks. Oak (Quercus) and Beech (Fagus) are in the northern hills. Summer (May-August) has high Grass (Poaceae) levels; sources are the Elbe meadows and park lawns. Mugwort (Artemisia) is common in late summer.

The Elbe valley basin traps pollen; the surrounding hills create a shield effect during stagnant weather. Autumn and winter have high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts; spores are from decaying leaf litter in the Großer Garten and damp riverside zones.
