About Pollen in Accra

Accra’s wet season pollen activity (April-July) is dominated by Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon); this is high near Legon Botanical Gardens and the Densu River. Neem (Azadirachta indica) is widespread along urban roadsides; Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) and Mango (Mangifera indica) contribute significantly during flowering near Achimota Forest and residential suburbs.

High humidity from the Gulf of Guinea traps allergens at ground level; dense traffic corridors concentrate particles within the city center. The Harmattan season (December-February) brings Saharan dust; Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) levels are elevated near Korle Lagoon and damp coastal environments.
