About Pollen in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad’s spring allergy season (February–May) is dominated by Neem (Azadirachta indica) pollen; these trees are prolific in Victoria Garden and Law Garden. Gando Baval (Prosopis juliflora) is widespread along the Sabarmati River banks and western outskirts. The monsoon transition (August–October) sees high Congress Grass (Parthenium hysterophorus) levels from vacant urban plots; Grass (Poaceae) species are common near Kankaria Lake and riverside parks.

The semi-arid climate and dusty winds from the Thar Desert trap particulate matter; low humidity increases pollen dispersal across the flat terrain. Post-monsoon humidity leads to high Mould (Aspergillus, Alternaria) spore counts; these originate from damp soil near the riverfront and decaying vegetation in Parimal Garden.
