Pollen Count & Forecast for Baghdad
About Pollen in Baghdad
Baghdad’s spring allergy season (March-April) is dominated by Date Palm and Grass pollen; Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera) prolific along the Tigris River and in Zawra Park; Grass (Poaceae) widespread in Al-Jadriya and Al-Karkh gardens. Saltbush (Chenopodiaceae) contributes significantly from the dry desert fringes. Summer and autumn see high pollen counts originating from vegetation near the Green Zone.
Frequent dust storms and flat terrain trap pollen against urban structures, leading to localised high concentrations. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp irrigation channels in the Al-Rasheed district and northern orchards.
