About Pollen in Bari

Bari’s spring allergy season (March–May) is dominated by Olive and Cypress pollen; Olive (Olea europaea) abundant across the Murge hills and coastal groves; Mediterranean Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) dense along avenues near Pineta San Francesco. Wall Pellitory (Parietaria judaica) grows on old stone walls in the Murat district. Summer (May–July) has high Grass (Poaceae) levels; these originate from the Lama Balice regional park.

Coastal humidity and Adriatic Sea breezes move allergens inland; the flat coastal terrain allows wide dispersal. Autumn and winter have high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts; these come from leaf litter in Parco 2 Giugno and damp soil in the Lama San Giorgio.
