Pollen Count & Forecast for Turin
About Pollen in Turin
Turin’s spring allergy season (February–May) is dominated by Hazel and Birch; Hazel (Corylus) prolific on the Superga hills; Birch (Betula) common in Parco del Valentino. Plane Tree (Platanus) widespread along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and city boulevards. Summer (May–July) sees high Grass (Poaceae) and Pellitory (Parietaria) pollen levels, originating from Po River banks and Parco della Pellerina. Ragweed (Ambrosia) contributes significantly from the surrounding Po Valley plains.
The city’s location in the Po Valley basin traps air; pollutants and pollen settle in low-lying districts. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from decaying leaf litter in Parco Colletta and damp river environments.
