Pollen Count & Forecast for Venice
About Pollen in Venice
Venice’s spring allergy season (March-June) is dominated by Pellitory and Cypress pollen; Pellitory-of-the-wall (Parietaria) prolific in stone crevices along Cannaregio canals; Cypress (Cupressus) widespread near the Giardini della Biennale and the Lido’s parklands. Olive (Olea europaea) contributes significantly from lagoon islands. Summer (June-August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from the Sant’Elena district and Parco delle Rimembranze.
Narrow streets and the enclosed lagoon can trap pollen, leading to localised high concentrations. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp building interiors and marshy areas of the northern lagoon.
