Pollen Count & Forecast for Osaka
About Pollen in Osaka
Osaka’s spring allergy season (February–April) is dominated by Cedar and Cypress pollen; Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) prolific in the Ikoma Mountains and Minoh Park; Japanese Cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) common in surrounding Kansai hills. Summer (May–August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from Osaka Castle Park and along Yodo River banks. Ragweed (Ambrosia) contributes significantly from late summer riverbeds.
The Osaka Plain traps pollen from surrounding mountain ranges; urban heat islands keep temperatures high and extend the season. Autumn and the rainy season see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from decomposing leaf litter in Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park and damp river environments.
