Pollen Count & Forecast for Astana

Astana’s spring allergy season (April-May) is dominated by Birch and Willow pollen; Birch (Betula) is prolific in the Botanical Garden and Presidential Park; Willow (Salix) is widespread along Ishim River banks. Poplar (Populus) contributes significantly across city streets in June. Summer (June-August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) and Wormwood (Artemisia) levels, originating from the surrounding steppe and Zhetysu Park.

Strong steppe winds and dry air distribute pollen across open city squares; flat terrain allows for high concentrations. Autumn sees elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts; these are from decaying leaf litter in the Green Belt and city parklands.
