About Pollen in Beirut

Beirut’s spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Olive and Pine pollen; Olive (Olea europaea) prolific in the Mount Lebanon foothills; Aleppo Pine (Pinus halepensis) widespread across Horsh Beirut. Oak (Quercus) contributes from nearby mountain slopes. Summer (June-August) sees high Pellitory-of-the-wall (Parietaria) pollen levels, originating from stone walls in Achrafieh and along Beirut River riverbanks.

Humid Mediterranean air carries sea salt and dust, pushing allergens toward the city center and narrow streets. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Aspergillus, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp building interiors and the Beirut Port area.
