Pollen Count & Forecast for Vilnius
About Pollen in Vilnius
Vilnius’s spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Birch and Alder pollen; Birch (Betula) is prolific in Vingis Park and Valakampiai forests; Alder (Alnus) is widespread along the Neris River banks. Oak (Quercus) is present in Verkių Regional Park. Summer (June-August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) and Mugwort (Artemisia) pollen levels, originating from meadows in Pavilniai Regional Park and slopes around Gediminas Hill.
The city’s basin topography and surrounding hills trap pollen; this creates high concentrations in the Old Town. Autumn and winter have elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from decomposing leaf litter in the Bernardine Garden and damp areas near the Vilnia River.
