Guadalajara’s dry season (November–May) is dominated by Ash (Fraxinus) and Casuarina (Casuarina) pollen; trees are common along Avenida Vallarta and in Parque Los Colomos. Oak (Quercus) and Pine (Pinus) pollen travels from the Bosque de la Primavera; winds carry these across the urban area. Grass (Poaceae) levels are high after summer rains; growth is thick along the Barranca de Huentitán.
The Atemajac Valley traps allergens against the surrounding hills; thermal inversions increase concentrations in the city center. The wet season (June–October) has high Mould (Alternaria) counts; spores come from damp parklands and the Rio Santiago basin.
