About Pollen in Chișinău

Chișinău’s spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Birch and Walnut pollen; Birch (Betula) common in Dendrarium Park; Walnut (Juglans) widespread across residential streets. Oak (Quercus) contributes significantly from the Rîșcani Forest-Park. Summer (June-August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from Valea Morilor Park. Common Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) is a major late-summer allergen; it grows on waste grounds and along Bîc River riverbanks.

Low-lying areas and the Bîc River valley trap pollen during calm days. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) counts, from decomposing leaf litter in Rose Valley Park parklands and damp soil environments.
