Pollen Count & Forecast for Marrakech
About Pollen in Marrakech
Marrakech’s spring allergy season (February–May) is dominated by Olive and Cypress pollen; Olive (Olea europaea) prolific in the Menara Gardens and Agdal Gardens; Mediterranean Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) widespread in the Majorelle Garden and city cemeteries. Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera) contributes significantly from the Palmeraie grove. Summer (May–September) has high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from gardens and along Tensift River riverbanks.
Proximity to the Atlas Mountains affects wind patterns; dry winds carry dust and pollen into the medina. Autumn has Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spores, from irrigated zones and the Oued Issil during damp periods.
