About Pollen in Yangon

Yangon’s dry season (November-February) is dominated by Mango (Mangifera indica) and Acacia (Acacia) pollen; Mango frequent near Kandawgyi Lake and Shwedagon Pagoda; Acacia widespread along suburban roadsides. Teak (Tectona grandis) contributes significantly from Inya Lake and Hlawga Wildlife Park. Hot season (March-May) sees high Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon) levels; these originate from People’s Park and along Hlaing River banks.

Low-lying marshlands and the Yangon River trap stagnant air; density leads to localised high concentrations. Monsoon months (June-October) see elevated Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts; growth comes from rotting vegetation in parklands and damp city environments.
