Pollen Count & Forecast for Lagos
About Pollen in Lagos
Lagos’s dry season (November-March) is dominated by Grass and Oil Palm pollen; Grass (Poaceae) prolific in the Lekki Conservation Centre; Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis) widespread across the Lagos Lagoon shores. Mango (Mangifera indica) contributes significantly from gardens in Ikoyi. Harmattan months (December-February) see high Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) pollen counts, originating from Lufasi Nature Park and rural outskirts.
Coastal wetlands and low-lying terrain near the Ogun River can trap moisture and pollen, leading to localised high concentrations. The rainy season sees elevated Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts, from marshes in the Lekki Peninsula and damp urban environments.
