Pollen Count & Forecast for Port Moresby
About Pollen in Port Moresby
Port Moresby’s dry season (May-October) is dominated by grass and acacia pollen; Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon) common around Paga Hill and Waigani; Elephant Grass (Pennisetum purpureum) frequent along the Laloki River. Acacia (Acacia) contributes significantly from hills near Ela Beach. Late dry season (August-October) sees high Mango (Mangifera indica) pollen levels, originating from residential gardens.
Coastal winds and steep hills trap allergens in low-lying basins. The wet season (November-April) sees high Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts, from damp soil and leaf litter within Adventure Park PNG and residential environments. High humidity levels maintain these counts throughout the year.
