About Pollen in Asunción

Asunción’s spring allergy season (September-November) is dominated by Lapacho and Tipa pollen; Lapacho (Handroanthus) common in Parque Caballero and along Avenida Mariscal López; Tipa (Tipuana tipu) dense in the Jardín Botánico y Zoológico. Mango (Mangifera indica) contributes significantly across residential neighbourhoods. Summer (December-February) has high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from Parque Ñu Guasu and along Paraguay River riverbanks.

High humidity and stagnant river air trap pollen in low-lying riverside areas. All seasons have elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from the dense vegetation of the Botanical Garden and damp environments near the Costanera.
