Pollen Count & Forecast for Belgrade
About Pollen in Belgrade
Belgrade’s spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Birch and Ash pollen; Birch (Betula) thick in Košutnjak Forest; Ash (Fraxinus) common in Kalemegdan Park. Poplar (Populus) is dense along the Sava and Danube riverbanks. Summer (May-July) has high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from Ada Ciganlija and Great War Island. Late summer is high in Common Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) from the Pannonian Plain.
The river confluence and surrounding hills create basins that trap pollen. Autumn has high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from leaf litter in Zvezdara Forest and Topčider Park. Damp river air keeps these levels high until the first frost.
