Pollen Count & Forecast for Jeju
About Pollen in Jeju
Jeju’s spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Japanese Cedar and Black Pine pollen; Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) prolific in Saryeoni Forest Path and Bijarim Forest; Japanese Black Pine (Pinus thunbergii) widespread across coastal trails and Hallasan National Park. Korean Oak (Quercus glauca) contributes significantly from low-lying oreums. Summer (June-August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from pastures near Saebyeol Oreum.
Sea breezes and volcanic terrain can trap pollen, leading to localised high concentrations. Late summer and autumn see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp basalt rock crevices and dense forest floor leaf litter.
