Pollen Count & Forecast for Bilbao
About Pollen in Bilbao
Bilbao’s spring allergy season (March-June) is dominated by Plane Tree and Oak pollen; Plane Tree (Platanus x acerifolia) widespread along Gran Vía and the Casco Viejo district; Oak (Quercus) common on Mount Artxanda and Mount Pagasarri. Birch (Betula) contributes significantly from the surrounding Green Belt and along the Nervión River. Summer (May-August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from Doña Casilda Iturrizar Park and suburban meadows.
The Nervión Valley geography can trap pollen, leading to localised high concentrations. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp leaf litter in Etxebarria Park and the humid Atlantic environment.
