About Pollen in Seville
Seville’s spring allergy season (February–May) is dominated by Olive and Plane pollen; Olive (Olea europaea) high from surrounding agricultural groves; London Plane (Platanus x acerifolia) widespread along the Avenida de la Constitución. Arizona Cypress (Cupressus arizonica) is common in the Parque de María Luisa. Summer (May–July) has high Grass (Poaceae) levels, originating from the Parque del Alamillo and along the Guadalquivir River.
The flat Guadalquivir valley traps air pollutants and pollen; dry winds from the south increase airborne concentrations. Autumn and winter have high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp riverbed vegetation and decaying matter in urban gardens.
