Pollen Count & Forecast for Valencia
About Pollen in Valencia
Valencia’s spring allergy season (February-May) is dominated by Cypress and Olive pollen; Cypress (Cupressus) is dense in Turia Gardens; Olive (Olea europaea) originates from groves in the Sierra Calderona. Pellitory-of-the-wall (Parietaria judaica) grows along old city walls and the Turia riverbed. Summer (May-July) has high Grass (Poaceae) levels, from the Albufera Natural Park and coastal wetlands.
The Turia riverbed acts as a corridor for wind-blown pollen; sea breezes push allergens into urban districts. Autumn and winter have elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from humid conditions near Malvarrosa beach and decaying organic matter in the Albufera marshes.
