Pollen Count & Forecast for Khartoum
About Pollen in Khartoum
Khartoum’s main allergy season (September-November) is dominated by Mesquite and Acacia pollen; Mesquite (Prosopis juliflora) prolific along the Blue Nile and within Al-Sunut Forest; Acacia (Vachellia nilotica) widespread near the Khartoum Botanical Garden. Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera) contributes significantly from Al-Mogran and residential districts. The dry winter (December-February) sees high Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon) pollen levels, originating from Tuti Island and along White Nile riverbanks.
Flat desert geography and Haboub dust storms trap pollen, leading to higher concentrations across the city. Late summer and winter see elevated Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts, from riverine farms and damp soils after heavy rain.
