Pollen Count & Forecast for Uppsala
About Pollen in Uppsala
Uppsala’s spring (April–May) is dominated by Birch and Hazel pollen; Birch (Betula) prolific in Stadsskogen and the Lunsen forest; Hazel (Corylus) concentrated along Fyrisån riverbanks. Alder (Alnus) contributes significantly from the wet meadows of Hågadalen-Nåsten. Summer (June–August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) levels, originating from the Uppland plains and the Royal Mounds at Gamla Uppsala. Mugwort (Artemisia) peaks in late summer near roadsides and field edges.
The Uppsalaåsen esker and the open Fyrisån valley channel wind-borne pollen into the city centre; the flat terrain allows for long-distance transport. Autumn sees elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from decomposing leaf litter in parklands and damp river corridors.
