About Pollen in Dodoma

Dodoma’s dry season (May–October) is dominated by Grass and Acacia pollen; Grass (Poaceae) prolific across the semi-arid plains and Simba Hill; Acacia (Acacia) widespread across Nyerere Square and residential gardens. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus) contributes from groves near the Iringa road. The rainy season (November–April) sees high Maize (Zea mays) pollen levels, originating from agricultural plots along the Kinyasungwe River.

The central plateau and seasonal dust storms carry allergens across the grid-patterned streets; low humidity keeps particles airborne. The wet months have elevated Mould (Aspergillus, Penicillium) spore counts, from damp organic matter around Imagi Hill and humid market environments.
