About Pollen in Bangkok

Bangkok’s dry season (November–February) is dominated by Grass and Mango pollen; Grass (Poaceae) prolific in Lumphini Park and Chatuchak Park; Mango (Mangifera indica) widespread in gardens and along the Chao Phraya riverbanks. Earleaf Acacia (Acacia auriculiformis) contributes significantly during early months. Late dry season (February–April) sees high Castor Bean (Ricinus communis) levels, originating from vacant lots and city outskirts.

Dense architecture and urban heat islands can trap pollutants, leading to localised high concentrations. Monsoon rains (May–October) see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Aspergillus) spore counts, from stagnant water near the Phra Khanong Canal and Benjakitti Park wetlands.
