Pollen Count & Forecast for Kharkiv
About Pollen in Kharkiv
Kharkiv’s spring allergy season (April–May) is dominated by Birch and Alder pollen; Silver Birch (Betula pendula) is prolific in the northern Forest Park and Central Park; Black Alder (Alnus glutinosa) is widespread along the Lopan River banks. Summer (June–August) has high Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) levels; this species grows in vacant lots and Sarzhyn Yar. Orchard Grass (Dactylis glomerata) and Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) are present in Shevchenko City Garden.
The flat steppe geography allows winds to carry pollen into the urban core; dense architecture in the city center traps these particles. Autumn and winter have high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) counts; spores come from damp leaf litter in the Forest Park and banks of the Kharkiv River.
