Pollen Count & Forecast for Odesa
About Pollen in Odesa
Odesa’s spring allergy season (March-May) is dominated by Birch and Poplar pollen; Silver Birch (Betula pendula) prolific in Shevchenko Park; Poplar (Populus) widespread along city streets and avenues. Linden (Tilia) contributes significantly from Primorsky Boulevard. Summer (May-July) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from Victory Park and the surrounding steppe. Late summer (August-September) has high Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) pollen; this weed is thick near Kuyalnik Estuary.
Steppe winds carry pollen from inland fields; sea breezes from the Black Sea coast can temporarily clear the air. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from decomposing leaf litter in the Odesa Botanical Garden and humid conditions near the port.
