Dallas’s winter allergy season (December–February) is dominated by Mountain Cedar (Juniperus ashei); pollen is heavy from the Texas Hill Country. Spring (March–May) has high Oak (Quercus) and Pecan (Carya illinoinensis) levels; Oak common around White Rock Lake; Pecan widespread in Turtle Creek. Late summer sees Ragweed (Ambrosia) pollen; plants are found along the Trinity River and Great Trinity Forest.
Flat topography and strong winds transport pollen across the region. Autumn and winter have high Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) counts; spores are in damp leaf litter near Bachman Lake and river bottomlands.
