Pollen Count & Forecast for Houston
About Pollen in Houston
Houston’s winter and spring (December–May) are dominated by Mountain Cedar (Juniperus ashei) and Oak (Quercus) pollen; Oak is dense in Memorial Park and Hermann Park. Summer (June–August) has high Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon) levels; these are widespread along Buffalo Bayou. Autumn (September–November) has high Ragweed (Ambrosia) counts; these weeds are common near George Bush Park.
High humidity and Gulf moisture trap allergens; the flat terrain allows pollen to drift from the Sam Houston National Forest. Year-round Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) counts are high; spores are frequent in damp bayous and decaying matter in the Piney Woods.
