Pollen Count & Forecast for San Francisco
About Pollen in San Francisco
San Francisco’s spring allergy season (February–May) is dominated by Cypress and Oak pollen; Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) prolific in The Presidio and Golden Gate Park; Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) widespread across Glen Canyon Park. Acacia (Acacia) contributes significantly from hillsides near Twin Peaks. Summer (May–August) sees high Grass (Poaceae) pollen levels, originating from the Panhandle and coastal dunes at Ocean Beach.
Steep hills and frequent coastal fog can trap pollen, leading to localised high concentrations. Autumn and winter see elevated Mould (Alternaria, Cladosporium) spore counts, from damp conditions in the Sunset District and leaf litter in the Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve.
